Baptism
Baptism is a public declaration that you have decided to follow Jesus for the rest of your days. It is an outward expression of the inward transformation that has occurred in your life. As you are buried in the water, you are declaring that your old self has died with Christ. Then as you are raised out of the water you are declaring that you have been raised to new life in Christ (Romans 6:1-10).
Serve
We believe that every believer has a crucial role to play in the life of the church (1 Corinthians 12). We want to help you figure out how God has gifted you to serve.
Membership
Becoming a member of the church signifies your desire to become a stakeholder in the life of the church.
Mission
We are a community who loves Jesus and invites others to follow Him.
Vision
Hillside endeavors to be a Spirit-filled community; a family that authentically shares the ups and downs of life together and encourages and equips each other to find their unique place in the Body of Christ. We aim to be people whose oneness in Jesus powerfully reflects God’s character so that every generation in our community encounters Him through us. We want to see God’s love poured out on the emotionally, physically, and spiritually broken so that they find healing, restoration, and the fullness of God. We want to live out this vision in Cole Harbour, our community, and the world.
Values
Spirit Led: Jesus is the head of the church, and we must follow His lead. We can do nothing apart from Him and seek to be empowered by His Spirit in all our endeavours.
Biblical Instruction: The Bible is the Word of God, and highest authority for all matters in life. It is our guidebook for living, revealing how to love and worship God, and how to live and love like Jesus.
Worship: Since we have received God’s mercy through Jesus Christ, we aspire to worship God with every part of our being and in every aspect of our lives, representing Him well to the world.
Prayer: Prayer is communicating with God. We honour Him, give thanks, confess, and present our needs to Him, while also listening to His voice to direct our lives.
Authentic Community: Life is not meant to be done alone; we seek to be a transformative community where the radical hospitality of Jesus is reflected in our love and care for others. We strive to foster an atmosphere of belonging, restoration, healing, and peace.
Missional: God has called his church to spread the good news of Jesus to all people and teach them about Him. We seek to pursue this mission with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength, in all that we do.
